Working with the Largest Organisms on Earth
Neha Sahu

Mushroom-forming fungi include species with some of the most fascinating morphological forms as well as vast ecological diversity. My work focuses on one such group of fungi from the genus Armillaria. Armillaria species comprise saprotrophs as well as plant necrotrophs, making them suitable for studying both wood decay and pathogenicity mechanisms. We use combination phylogenomics and comparative omics tools to understand the evolutionary patterns that make Armillaria species special.
